Kara Heald is an experienced Principal Landscape Architect with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the Edinburgh College of Art. She worked for a number of leading landscape architecture in Edinburgh and Australia, before joining Gillespies in 2018. During this time, she developed a comprehensive understanding of a number of landscape disciplines including landscape planning.
Kara is passionate about working on projects that require protection or enhancement for both the environment and users, enabled by inter-disciplinary collaboration in planning, ecology, heritage and engineering. She always aims to achieve context-driven design solutions which respond to a sense of place, the local environment, and the needs of users. This, along with her landscape assessment experience, enables her to balance a sensitive response with the aim of making places and environments better for people.
Key projects include landscape design for the National Innovation Centre for Data in Newcastle and Wellington Place, a new, high-profile commercial quarter in Leeds for client MEPC.
