Jim Fox is a respected planner and urban designer with over 30 years’ experience in urban design and masterplanning. Mostly working in the North of England and recently with Gillespies, he has successfully led large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale masterplanning, public realm and planning developments.
As a Consultant Director for the Practice, he supports a range of high profile urban regeneration and strategy projects for the firm in advisory and project leadership capacity.
Jim is a member of the Design Council (CABE) National Design Review, Chartered member of The Royal Town Planning Institute and selected as an advisor to the Future High Streets Fund. He holds a Diploma in Town Planning from the Oxford Brookes University and is a Registered Practitioner in Urban Design. Whether project delivery for the private and public sector he balances his visioning, masterplanning and place making expertise with an acute knowledge of the market and planning system with a particular ability to enable projects move smoothly and successfully through the planning system.
Jim has delivered a number of key projects including an urban extension at Ashton Green in Leicester, an urban design framework in Ashton Town Centre, masterplan design guidance and landscape strategy for a mixed-use urban extension in Northallerton. More recently he led the visioning work for St Cuthbert’s Garden Village in Carlisle which is the largest such development in the North of England, a large residential development in Leicester city centre and a range of complex estate refurbishment projects in the North West
