Gokce Gerekli Yilmaz
Gokce Gerekli Yilmaz is a highly experienced and creative landscape architect with over 15 years’ professional experience and a dual degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design from Bilkent University in Turkey. Gokce joined Gillespies’ Oxford studio in 2017 as a senior landscape architect and was promoted to principal in 2019.
Since joining the practice, Gokce has been instrumental in delivering strong and engaging conceptual narratives for a number of high-profile projects in the UK, Russia and the Middle East. Notable projects include 02 Finchley Road, a new mixed-use development for client Landsec, Boka Place, a mixed-use resort development located in the picturesque Bay of Kotor in Montengro, and landscape design for Golden Island 2, a high-end residential development in Moscow, Russia.
Gokce is particularly passionate about the role storytelling can play in establishing meaning within landscapes, using subtle elements such as art, form, colour, planting and movement, to create meaningful and powerful places that are rooted in their culture and context.
In 2009, upon completing her master thesis, 'Land Art on the border between Topology and Atopology' and thesis project 'Nonlocalizable Displaced Mirrors', she received a Master of Arts Degree from Bilkent University and her thesis was subsequently published.
