Chris Wong

Associate

Chris Wong is an Urban Designer and a Chartered Architect with over 15 years' experience in architecture, landscape and urban design. Prior to joining Gillespies in early 2018, Chris worked for a number of high profile urban design and architecture practices in the UK and Shanghai. He has an urban design advisory role with Telford & Wrekin and Gateshead Council to support the council planning team in reviewing incoming pre-app submissions.

During his time at Gillespies, Chris has been instrumental in leading several new urban design and planning strategies across the UK. Notable projects include a new garden city in St Cuthbert’s Carlisle and a set of masterplan frameworks and design codes for Barnsley, which are now adopted by the Council. All of these projects have involved leading design and engagement workshops with key stakeholders and the community.

Chris believes that a good development is a coherent connection of all design and technical disciplines, and it should take into account of how it affects the surroundings in order to consider the broader contextual relationship between potential users and the environment.
