The South Bank Parklands — located on the former site of World Expo 88 — is one of Brisbane’s most important cultural precincts regularly used to host large scale festivals and events.

Gillespies provided landscape and urban design consultancy for the development of this landmark site in Brisbane, Queensland.

Following the adoption of the strategy by Brisbane City Council, Gillespies development the strategy and implemented it into the new parklands, streetscapes for Grey Street and Little Stanley Street, public urban spaces and the detailed implementation of the ‘Grand Arbour’ (in association with DCM Architects).

Gillespies also developed a maintenance and management strategy for the parklands.
