Riverfront Improvements, Perth
Perth is one of Scotland's largest Towns. Unfortunately, it has frequently been affected by flooding issues as its main waterway, the river Tay, runs very close to the town centre.
Tay Street runs parallel with the river and takes motorists and pedestrians into and out of the town centre. Due to its proximity to the river, it has formed a key part of plans for a wider flood prevention scheme. The street was also in need of extensive refurbishment.
Gillespies was tasked with preparing design proposals and contract documentation for a public realm enhancement scheme which not only satisfied the requirements of the flood prevention measures but also created a contemporary new riverfront.
