Royal William Yard, Plymouth

The yard, set on a spectacular headland on Plymouth's coast, consists of numerous grade one listed buildings, which are considered to be the most distinguished ever constructed for the Royal Navy.

Gillespies was appointed to address, with partners, the physical regeneration of this ex-naval storage yard, to re-activate it whilst retaining its unique character.

The comprehensive public realm strategy is currently in its first stage of implementation. The paving design was a key component of the scheme. Extensive research, testing, cost analysis and consultation with stakeholders was undertaken and the original two hundred year old granite was used as part of the design.
