Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Skye
This first phase of an ambitious new campus for the Gaelic College in the Isle of Skye, saw the planned development of buildings on a dramatic cliff-top site overlooking the Sound of Sleat.
The main objective is to provide a framework which will allow for incremental and sustainable development over a number of years. The general character and atmosphere of the new college is contemporary to reflect the continuing renaissance of Gaelic culture, but with shapes redolent of a tradition over two thousand years of west coast settlement. Two of the three buildings are student residences, with the central academic hub building containing library, assembly hall, teaching rooms, offices and refectory.
