Abertay University, Dundee

A design competition invited architectural solutions for the creation of a new student centre at the heart of the Abertay university campus.

Gillespies second placed entry proposed the pedestrianisation of Bell Street and considered the relation of the new building to its site through the creation of an 'inside outside' social space.  The foyer space connects all the primary activities together (bars, nightclub, shops and refectory) with smaller cellular spaces (gym, cinema, meeting rooms and offices) contained on the upper level.
