Sheffield Urban Design Compendium

Gillespies was commissioned by Sheffield City Council and Sheffield One to prepare an Urban Design Compendium for the city centre.

In line with the major regeneration initiative occurring in Sheffield, the Urban Design Compendium provides guidance, both strategically across the city centre and in detail in the 'quarters', which will raise the standards and share best practice in design quality. The Compendium is a visionary and aspirational document for Sheffield, as well as a 'tool kit' for designers, developers, council officers and local politicians. It was developed through a sustained process of consultation, which allowed the firm to draw from the collective knowledge, expertise and energy of representatives within the Council, agencies and other institutions in Sheffield.
