Scunthorpe

The Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward, has identified Scunthorpe as one of the key towns in its innovative Renaissance Towns Programme.

As part of the International Yorkshire Forward Urban Renaissance Panel, Gillespies has led a team of consultants to deliver a major town-wide regeneration initiative.  This project is about re-energising the local community, re-imagining the perception of the town and setting aspirations for exciting and innovative future opportunities.

The first phase of the firm's work has seen the formation of the Scunthorpe Town Team, a multi-dimensional group which has developed a Charter for the renaissance of the town. This has marked the start of a process which aims to reposition Scunthorpe over the next twenty five years as a successful and sustainable advanced manufacturing town and effective driver for the sub-region.
