The Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott launched the Design for Manufacture Competition to demonstrate that it is possible to build a high-quality home for a construction cost of £60,000.
Working closely with Richard Rogers Partnership and George Wimpey Plc, Gillespies has developed the landscape proposals for the competition winning design for Oxley Park in Milton Keynes.
As part of the project, Gillespies worked closely with Richard Rogers Partnership to integrate the architecture and the landscape to develop a new residential form. The masterplanning of the site introduced a novel 'green lane' system which integrated vehicular and pedestrian use through Homezones to provide a safe, green and interesting environment for residents to enjoy.
