Energy and Roads

The impact of infrastructure associated with energy and roads can be substantial.  Landscape architects have a highly significant role in minimising adverse impacts.

Sustainable and renewable energy can affect the environment as well as overhead transmission lines and pipelines. Hydro-electric schemes, wind and wave power projects equally require physical interventions, usually in our rural landscapes. Gillespies provides advice to power generation and utility companies on visual and landscape issues, route selection and infrastructure design and frequently act as expert witnesses at public inquiries.

For roads, our integration into engineering teams is essential in order to advise on issues of route selection, sustainability, landscape and visual impacts, mitigation measures and landscape frameworks.
