Mid Wales Line Routing Study
Over the next ten years Manweb plans a multi million pound investment to the power system in Mid Wales, which will result in a more powerful and reliable supply.
To facilitate the improvements a new one hundred and thirty two Kilo Volt overhead line will be constructed and the existing thirty three Kilo Volt lines that are coming to the end of their life cycle will be refurbished. In addition, new substations will be built, and existing ones upgraded.
To ensure the work had a minimal effect on Mid Wales' environmentally sensitive areas, including Snowdonia National Park, Gillespies was commissioned to advise on the environmental and landscape implications associated with a number of possible routes for the power lines. Following a detailed environmental analysis Gillespies was able to recommend the route with least environmental impact and advise on the main environmental issues associated with the preferred option.
