Two residential schemes on the site of the former Granada Television Studios in Manchester gain planning consent

Manchester City Council has given the go ahead for the development of two residential-led schemes on the site of the former Granada Television Studios – the Nickel and Dime’ towers, a pair of 36-storey PRS apartments, and the ‘Manchester Good Yard’, a combined commercial and residential building.

Gillespies worked with the client Allied London and architectural practices Denton Corker Marshall (DCM) and Cartwright Pickard (CP) to develop landscape and public realm design proposals for both sites. The successful applications carry on from the masterplanning work undertaken by Gillespies in 2015, and compliment the additional applications currently being considered.

For both developments, Gillespies delivered a series of dynamic landscape and public realm design proposals that celebrate the sites rich and complex cultural heritage and support the surrounding architecture.
