Stockport Exchange reaches Practical Completion

The second phase of the Stockport Exchange regeneration project has now reached Practical Completion.

The new flagship development — delivered by Muse Developments in partnership with Stockport Council — will transform the heart of the town centre into a thriving commercial district, providing much-needed Grade A office accommodation, a 115-bed hotel and a pedestrianised public square outside the train station, creating a new gateway to Stockport town centre.

Gillespies has successfully delivered a brand new, high-quality public realm and new landscape that is elegant and contemporary, yet deliberately understated.The design provides a high-quality setting for the new development, transforming the challenging levels into a sculptural landscape of cascading terraces that encourage social interaction and relaxation in and around the central green plateau. Bold avenues of trees and granite walls reinforce the sweeping curves that inform the space together with feature lighting that animates the square during the hours of darkness.
