Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street Opens

London's new Sky Garden atop 20 Fenchurch Street opens to the public this month. Gillespies was the lead Landscape Architect for the unique Sky Garden, and also for the public realm for 20 Fenchurch Street at street-level.

Sky Garden spans three floors and offers uninterrupted views across London.  Landscape design challenges for Sky Garden included how to deliver an exceptional roof garden in the striking architectural space, complementing its views.  Within the garden, each terrace evokes a particular landscape theme.

As lead landscape architect, Gillespies worked with a number of other consultants on this project. These included specialist planting consultancy provided on this project by Growth Industry. Gillespies' design role at 20 Fenchurch Street was also to capture a high quality de-cluttered setting for the building at street level. This has resulted in an accessible and welcoming open space at the base of the building.
