Port Sunlight River Park highly commended for Ecosystem project of the year at the 2016 Business Green Leaders Awards

Port Sunlight River Park project was highly commended in the Ecosystem Project of the Year category at last night's Business Green Leaders awards event hosted at The Brewery in central London.

New to 2016, the Ecosystem Project of the year award celebrates pioneering projects that recognise how effective management of habitats, biodiversity, and wider ecosystem services delivers multiple business and community benefits.

Port Sunlight River Park, beside the River Mersey in Wirral, is a 35-hectare community space home to an array of wildlife and wildflowers, along with a wetlands area and soaring footpaths providing stunning views of Liverpool's UNESCO World Heritage-status waterfront. Previously a landfill site hemmed off from the community, the site was transformed by Gillespies and opened to the public in 2014 by national land management charity, the Land Trust.
