Centro Midland Metro, City Centre Extension, Birmingham

Centro Midland Metro has proposed a second new line extension to run through the retail and cultural heart of the City Centre.

Key civic spaces, such as Centenary Square, Corporation Street, Bull Street and Victoria Square are expected to accommodate the new tram route. As these are some of Birmingham's most important spaces, the design is particularly sensitive and emphasis at the design stage had to be on an uncluttered transition between tram infrastructure, pedestrian walkways and existing architecture. 

The completed proposals were well accepted and the Public Inquiry proceeded smoothly, with few objections to the proposed scheme
